A combination of clean lines, simplicity, and a certain affinity with materials. Sometimes pure, sometimes quirky, often understated but always recognisable. How do Bang & Olufsen keep things fresh time after time, yet achieve a sense of continuity? What is the source of their inspiration and how has it shaped the culture of this amazing Danish company? And, where are they going from here?
Join us for a fascinating talk by Bang & Olufsen's Steve Devonshire on their approach to design in a global context. There'll be an opportunity to preview B&O's lastest product for the UK, the extraordinary Beosound 5, and find out about it's journey from idea to finished product. Star Gazing and Pie - Cambridge

Peering into the depths of the universe and trying to make sense of it all has consumed a lifetime's work for some of the greatest human minds. How many of us stared captivated through our fisher price telescopes just hoping to catch a glimpse of the moon, only to discover it was the lady over the road all along?
Join us for a thrilling evening as Carolin Crawford, the Astronomy Department's outreach officer, reveals the fascinating story of space and the institute itself. You'll have a chance to ask burning questions like, 'does space have a smell?' and, 'how are stars made?'. Weather permitting, you'll visit the observatory to look through one of the telescopes - there's every chance you'll see a crescent moon around this time. And if the weather won't cooperate Carolin will tell you more about the research currently underway, including projects involving the Hubble telescope. Remember to wrap up warm in case there's a nip in the air!

Cooler Shaker Part 2 - Cambridge

Imagine; you're left alone with a bar stocked with a rainbow selection of fruit juices, every imaginable spirit and hundreds of little plastic umbrellas. It's only natural you'll want to experiment with a generous slug of this, a dash of that....but do you know how to do it with style? Moving on from our muddling and layering, this time you'll have a go at designing your very own tropical combinations, discover the art of bar tending, free pouring and, if you're feeling brave, stacked pouring. If you didn't make it along to the first one, don't worry, it's all new again so come armed ready for a good time and you won't go far wrong. All this, tapas and a jolly decent band to hang around for afterwards and not a glace cherry in sight!
